What happens to your photos
The short, plain version. Everything here is also in the privacy policy and the terms — this page exists so you do not have to read those to get an answer.

You own them. We do not.
Your guests shoot them, you own your event, and we are storage and a screen. We do not sell them, license them, publish them, or train anything on them. If we ever wanted to show one in a case study we would ask you first.
You get every original
Full resolution, exactly as the camera took it, in one zip. Not a compressed copy, not a web version. Download it and keep it — that download is yours and we would rather you had your own copy than relied on ours.
How long we keep them
| Plan | Kept for | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 7 days after your event ends | 30 photos |
| Single Event | 30 days after your event ends | 1,000 photos |
| Plus | 90 days after your event ends | 10,000 photos |
| Agency | 365 days after your event ends | 10,000 per event photos |
The clock starts when your event ends, not when you paid — booking three months ahead does not eat into your window. After that the files are deleted automatically, by a job, not by someone remembering.
Need longer? Ask before the event and we will set it. Want them gone sooner? Email us and they go.
Who can see them
Anyone with your event's link. That is the point — guests join by scanning a code, without accounts or passwords, and the participation you get is the whole reason this works better than a shared album nobody joins.
So treat the gallery link like the room: share it with the people who were there, not on a public page. The files themselves sit in private storage with unguessable addresses and can only be read through our delivery network.
You control what reaches the screen
- Pull any photo off every screen in the room in two taps, from your phone.
- Or set the event so nothing appears at all until you approve it.
- A photo you remove stays removed. Re-uploading the same file will not put it back — we keep a fingerprint of deleted files specifically so that cannot happen.
If you are a guest, not the organiser
You do not need an account, and you do not need to have booked anything, to ask us to take a photo of you down. Email hello@takeurown.com with the event and we will remove it. That is not a favour we do reluctantly; it is how this should work.
Face search, where it is switched on
Some organisers turn on a feature that lets you find photos you appear in by taking a selfie. It is off unless they turn it on, you are asked to agree before anything happens, and your selfie is never stored — it is compared and discarded. The face data behind it belongs to that one event and is deleted with its photos.
Anything on this page that turns out to conflict with the privacy policy or terms is a mistake on our side, and we will fix it in your favour. Tell us at hello@takeurown.com.
